The first phase of the soccer fields being built in the Countryside Sports Complex is almost completed.
It is the first-of-its-kind lease deal between the City of Roanoke and the Roanoke Star Soccer Club. It’s part of a growing trend as many local governments partner up with private businesses to develop unused land into parks, and in this case, soccer fields. The first phase of the project includes three full-sized world cup soccer fields, which can be converted into six junior fields. A second phase of construction will add even more fields to the park.
